Author of The Hamilton Affair and former Pulitzer Prize jurist will give Texarkana public lecture on WWI, the right to vote and female soldiers
Cobbs is the author of eight books fiction and non-fiction books, including The Hello Girls: America’s First Women Soldiers. The Hamilton Affair: A Novel was a popular bestseller, and the author will soon be promoting a new book on the Civil War military service of Harriet Tubman which is titled The Tubman Command.
Cobbs is a former juror for the Pulitzer Prize, and the author holds the Glasscock Chair at Texas A&M University. She is also Senior Fellow at Stanford’s Hoover Institution.
According to Texas A&M Texarkana communications officer John Bunch: "PLACE is a faculty-led program designed to create a community of learners comprised of A&M-Texarkana students, faculty, staff and the community at large. PLACE chooses an annual theme around which to organize a lecture series and other activities that provide focal points for learning and discussion. This year’s theme is 'Gender Issues.'"
